Underrated Products (Makeup Edition)

Hola, beautiful ones!! Welcome back & if you're new here, welcome! So, today is  another 3 part series all about underrated products! There are so many brands and products in the beauty community that get a lot of hype and buzz, but there's others that are just as great (if not better), but just don't get a ton of love. So, I went through my collection and found some great products that I feel are so amazing, but needs some spotlight, too! As you see by the title, this will be the makeup edition of underrated products (I will have a hair and body one coming soon!) Fair warning: these are all mostly  drugstore products because I don't typically buy a ton of higher end makeup.  So, if you wanna know what my underrated makeup items are,  then just keep reading!
  • L'Oreal Magic Perfecting Base Face Primer (retail $10.99)

This is a great all in one primer , in my opinion! It smoothes any texture, fills in pores and mattifies the skin. The only thing I hate about this primer is the darn packaging (I hate jar primers because they get stuck in my nails and it's a hassle to clean them all the time). I think if you're normal to oily, you'd love this!! I would either moisturize a ton or stay away if you have super duper dry skin.
  • Covergirl Queen Collection (retails $4.99-12.99)

I've not been crazy into the Covergirl brand because often times, they don't have many options for those with a bit more melanin to our skin. So, when I finally got to try out the Queen collection about 3 years ago, I was so surprised and became obsessed!! This definitely has to be one my top 5 favorite drugstore lines as a woman of color!!
  • Sinful Colors nail polishes (retails $1.99)

I thought that no other brand of polish could ever top the Wet n Wild polishes---they last a decent amount of time, the color selection is great & they don't cost a hand or finger. But, even though I still love WNW polishes, Sinful Colors is giving them a run for its money!! At about $2 a pop, Sinful Colors offers so many colors and finishes that it's tough to honestly keep track of. They last a nice amount of time on my nails, considering how rough I can be with being a nurse and all , but needles to say, I'm all over these!!
  • Jordana Fabubrow eyebrow pencil (retails $2.99)
Ya'll are probably so tired of me talking about this pencil, but seriously, it's so good & more people should know about it!! Even though it doesn't have to be sharpened, it's fairly creamy and easy to spread!!

  • Wet n Wild Megaclear Brow & Lash Mascara (retails $1.99)

I mentioned this recently in my drugstore makeup starter kit (eye edition) , but NOBODY ever talks about this gem!! It does just as well as the ABH clear brow gel that I also love, for for like 90% cheaper!!
  • Prestige lip liners (retails $4.49)
I've never talked about these or knew they even existed until a random trip to Kmart had brought them into my life. These are amazing!!! They glide on pretty nice ad last a good bit on the lips. They're a bit on the drier side compared to some other liners I use, but I still really enjoy them!

  • Wet n Wild ColorIcon lip liners (retails $0.99)

I've been rocking with Wet n Wild for years and one of their most stand out products to me is their lip liners. For a dollar a pop, they glide on and stay put virtually all day! Since they are wooden, they can tug at the lips a little and do need to be sharpened, but honestly I don't mind it !  I only wish that they would add a nice nude and warm chocolate brown to the mix.

  • Wet n Wild H2o Proof Liquid Liner (retails $2.99)

I've mentioned this several times already, but this is probably my favorite inexpensive liquid liner!! It's easy for me to work with, pigmented and lasts all day!!

  • NYX Baked Blushes (retails $6.99)

A lot, and I do mean A LOT , of people do not like these  at all, but surprisingly I do. Since they are baked, the color payoff is more on the muted side (which I personally do not mind). I will say, every single blush shade I'm not crazy about, but the three I adore are Solstice, Foreplay and Ignite (Ignite is probably my absolute favorite). Some are a bit more matte, while others are more of an iridescent finish, so they'd be great regular blushes, blush toppers or highlighters depending on your skin tone.
  • NYX Cheek  Contour Duo-----"Wine & Dine", "Ginger & Pepper" (retails $6.99)

I absolutely love the two that I have!! "Wine & Dine" is the perfect blush/contour duo for women of color! The matte chocolate shade is perfect for warming up the face or chiseling out those features , while the satin berry blush gives you a subtle glow to the cheek!  "Ginger & Pepper", on the other hand consists of a  muted matte red pepper toned blush and champagne highlighter that gives off a "lit from within" glow!
  • RK by Kiss Forever Matte Liquid Lipsticks (retails $1.99)
Image result for rk by kiss forever matte

These are much newer to the game, but they are just the bomb!! I mentioned these in my April favorites, and for good reason! They're super inexpensive , but don't work like they're super inexpensive in my opinion. Plus, the color selection is great also!
  • Kleancolor Bronzer powder (retails $2.99)

They have both a matte and shimmer version of these bronzers (depending on your preference. I have the shade "Luna" in both finishes  & I love them both!  They give me such a natural warmth that I am obsessed with!
  • theBalm Meet Matte Hughes Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick (retails $17.00)
These are some nice liquid lipsticks! I love the minty smell and the pigmentation! They aren't as drying as some other liquid lipsticks I've tried, which I appreciate!! I wish the Balm was sold in some other stores (I've only found them in Kohl's). Also, if you don't want to pay the full price for just one , they do have sets of 6 mini ones for about $29, which is bomb if you wanted to try out more than one shade!
  • theBalm Instain Longwearing Powder Blush (retails $20.00-22.00)

These are a bit steep for single blushes, but I've been digging these! They do last a good amount of time on the skin, which I love!! It's not crazy pigmented, but just enough color payoff comes off on the cheek! I received a sample of the color Pinstripe (a plum with a nice sheen) in one of my Ipsy bags and I've been loving the color on me! So, if you want a new cute yet long lasting blush to check out, try these out!! I've been looking at maybe picking up Toile (strawberry) or Swiss Dot (peach) next!
  • L'Oreal True Match Blush in "Soft Sun" (retails $7.97)
Ya'll, this one of the BEST neutral blushes I've worn!! The neutral peachy brown tones this gives such a nice healthy sheen to my skin and I'm all for it! I do love me a saturated blush, but sometimes it's good to be a little more subtle. If you thought about trying these blushes out or are afraid to, I think Soft Sun is a nice color to start with!!

Well, to the end we have come! Hopefully, you find some great suggestions to try out for yourselves!!  Once again, there will be posts about underrated hair and skincare products on the way! Thanks so much for reading and like always, Stay Beautiful!!

Review: Nubian Heritage African Black Soap

Hello, all! Happy new year to everyone!! I came on to give my review on the second out of the three soaps I received from Nubian Heritage---the African Black Soap. Price: $4.99 on NH website and at the Vitamin Shoppe (5 oz size) Specs: This soap claims to be  acne-fighting,  detoxifying and healing.  Also, it was designed for people with   combination, oily, sensitive, and problem skin  , however it has been said that people with ALL skin types can use this as well :) but, back to the specs. Like I mentioned on my review on the Shea Butter soap , on the container is a brief history about how Nubian Heritage got its start and the ayurvedic properties about the key ingredients--which for this product line is shea butter, oats, aloe, palm ash, plaintain peel, tamarind extract and vitamin E. Palm Ash, Tamarind & Plantain Peel--soothing properties ; minimizes the appearance of superficial skin imperfections Oats--brightens and evens skin tone ...

November Favorites

Hello, my loves! Welcome back & if you're new here, welcome! I can't believe that I'm here with my November beauty favorites!! Like the year is legit almost  done. 31 days left before 2018 makes its grand entry. I do have quite a bit this month, so if you're interested in learning all about my  favorites for November,  then just keep reading! SKIN/BODYCARE Eco Tools Konjac Cleansing Sponge : so great for helping spread my cleanser more evenly on my face versus using my hands or a rag! I've also noticed that it has helped my skin be a lot smoother, too! Shea Moisture Superfruit Complex Body Lotion : such a thick, hydrating lotion !! Only thing though is I would change the packaging--maybe opt for a jar instead of a bottle because it's thicker that a traditional lotion, but thinner than a body butter. Nip & Fab Kale Fix Protecting Shot : my skin has been more balanced lately since incorporating this oil!! Since it's colder, my skin tends t...

Hola, beautiful ones!! Welcome back & if you're new here, welcome! Once again, we've reached the end on yet another month, which means monthly favorites! Guys, we're officially 2/3 through 2018!! Nonetheless, I have some really good stuff that I've been loving, so if you guys wanna know about my favorites for August, then just keep on  reading! Makeup Colourpop Element of Surprise palette : this is probably one of the most unique palettes I own! When I first saw it, I had no interest in picking it up, but when I saw it in Ulta & swatched the shade Rayon, (metallic dark coral with blue-green duochrome) I fell in love!! I never thought I'd love this palette, but I'm pleasantly surprised! Colourpop x KathleenLights Dream St. Palette :  another great option for a few pops of color + neutral shades! Unlike the Element of Surprise, this one is more a warm toned color scheme .  Also, I...
