Hola, beautiful ones!! Welcome back & if you're new here, welcome! So, this post will be a little different for me. I was inspired by a video Samantha March had done talking about decluttering items off her Sephora loves list and thought that was pretty smart. So, I decided to point out makeup items that I used to pine over , but no longer do. Now, I'm in NO way, shape or form bashing the brands mentioned---there's SO many new releases constantly coming out, things just get kinda lost among the sauce. So if you're interested in all the products I no longer find myself wanting to own, then keep on reading!!
- UD Naked Palettes: I remember when these were all the rage for eyeshadow. But since then, there've been better quality shadows that are way more inexpensive, offer more shadow options and easier access. These days, I simply cannot be bothered to drop $54 on 12 eyeshadows.
- Too Faced Chocolate Bar palettes: aside from Urban Decay, Too Faced was the other highly talked about brand for shadows. Now , I will say that TF performs a tad better than UD shadows, but again---there's great inexpensive options that exist these days, $49 for a 18 shadow palette just seems like a little much.
- Morphe 35O: I remember when this palette came out and basically broke the internet. It screamed warm tone heaven for the makeup lover. Since it's release, there's been a plethora of warm toned palettes popping up , both high end and drugstore. So many that this one just got lost among the shuffle. Also, it's not the most practical palette for travel. When I go out of town and take makeup with me, I go for items with much smaller packaging, especially eyeshadow. Also, Morphe has improved the formula on their newer palette releases (like the 35O2, 25A, 9C Jewel Crew palettes just to name a few). *I'll be doing a post about my top warm toned palettes soon!!*
- NARS single blushes: I'm not too into NARS as a brand mainly because of the price of their items. Especially the blushes---they're a whopping $30 a piece!! If I'm spending over $20 on any of their items, they better be amazing, mind blowing....everything you could ever want and then some! But truthfully, I've tried cheaper single blushes that work just as good, if not better. Brands like NYX, Makeup Revolution, Kleancolor and City Color knock these NARS blushes out the water for 80-95% less expensive!
- NARS Light Reflecting Setting Powder: I remember when the Glamtwinz had raved about this powder because there really wasn't anything at the drugstore that was melanin friendly (for translucent powders). Now, there's a bit more universal powders that multiple skin tones can use and not look ghostly. I actually tried this out to see how it compared, and my drugstore powders surprisingly held up better than its $37 contender. So, back to the store it went. *click here to read up on some of my favorite translucent powders that are MUCH more affordable*
- MAC lipsticks: this only applies to a lot of the basic colors (like peach nudes, deep wine, the classic red). There's so many dupes ---both color and formula-- to MAC lipsticks on the market that cost way less. *but I'll still go for a MAC lippie for the more unique shades that are tougher to come across, like Chili (brownish orange red)*
- ABH Brow Wiz: when this released years ago, the skinny tip made it easier for the consumer to be able to define their brows with ease. Now , since then, the drugstore has been coming out with their versions of brow pencils that ended up being just as good (if not better) compared to the Brow Wiz. Only thing, in my opinion, that still allowed the Brow Wiz to be the best was the color selection---any practical hair color could find a shade that worked! But even now, more affordable brands are accounting for that issue also. So, for me, the ABH Brow Wiz has been dethroned as number one.
- Sigma brushes: when I first really got into makeup in college, everyone was hyping up Sigma brushes---specifically the F80 Flat Top Kabuki brush. I personally never bit the bullet and purchased from Sigma, and I doubt I will anytime soon. I prefer to actually feel and touch my makeup items I'm eyeing in person (especially brushes because they're going directly on my face). Affordable brands like ELF, Wet n Wild, and Ecotools have some of the best quality brushes on the market & I can purchase a whole set or two of those for the price of one lone Sigma brush *click here to read more about affordable brush options in depth*
Well, that wraps it up for this post!! What are some things that YOU used to pine for makeup wise, but no longer do?? Let me know! As always , thanks for reading and Stay Beautiful!!
