Affordable Brush Brands

Hola, my beauties!! Today, I wanted to come talk about something that I seem to have a large collection of: Makeup brushes!! Now , I know that the type of makeup you buy can make a difference in looking couture vs. a clown, but I believe that the tools you use to apply said makeup play an even bigger role than many want to give credit for. And, I know what you're thinking ---"I don't have $20 to drop on a beauty blender or $200 for the Artis brush set!!" Well, here's where I come in =) I've worn makeup for quite some time & have found some amazing yet affordable brush brands along the way! So, if you're interested in my picks, then keep on reading!

1) Elf
If you really know me, you knew Elf was gonna be on this list! Though the prices are starting to go up on their items (and they still haven't quite mastered that darker skinned girls wear makeup too---that's another rant for another day), Elf is still probably the best OG drugstore brand on the market! They have about 4 different brush lines that are sold: the original Professional line, the Studio line, the Beautifully Bare line & the Beautifully Precise line. So, there's a line out there for everyone! Each brush runs anywhere between $1-10 , so price is definitely not an issue! But the big reason why I love elf brushes is because they work better than what they cost!! I own abut 4 of the $1 eyeshadow brushes and still use them to this day!
*Some favorites of mine include: Selfie Ready Foundation Blurring Brush, Angled Blush Brush, Eyeshadow "C" bush, & Small Stipple Brush.

2) Real Techniques
Created by sister duo Samantha & Nicola Chapman in 2011, Real Techniques was designed to teach all makeup lovers about the purpose of the different makeup tools that are used to blend, chisel and create any look effortlessly. One thing that I noticed is unique about this brand is that each tool is typically color coded , which helps us as consumers out a ton! Any tool that is in the orange packaging or has an orange handle is meant to be used for the base products applied to the face (i.e. primer, foundation, concealer, powder), purple is for anything related to the eyes (i.e. eyeshadow, brows) & pink is for the finishing toppings on the face (i.e blush, highlighter, contour, bronzing). They've also released quite a few sponges, as well as a Bold Metals collection that has the same principle as their original line (gold = base products, silver = eyes, rose gold = finishers for the face).  Though they're not as cheap as the Elf brushes, they're still fairly reasonable. Each tool runs $6-12, with the exception of the Bold Metals brushes---they run about $20-25 individually
*Some favorites include: Miracle Complexion Sponge, Expert Face Brush, Fine Liner Brush & Setting brush (clearly lol).

3)BH Cosmetics
Mainly based online, BH Cosmetics is another great quality brand for affordable prices! There's always some type of deal going on the site since the main goal is to allow the customer to have the necessary tools to create a flawless without breaking the bank! Each brush is about $3-9 individually , but the best bet is to just buy a set of brushes from them!  I've had my BH brushes for a couple years & they still work like brand new! So, if you're someone that is looking to order brushes online without it being too costly, BH Cosmetics is a great way to go!
* Some favorites include the 117 (angled contouring face brush), 101 (blending eye brush), 114 (round blending face brush) & 118 (small tapered face contour brush)

4) Ecotools
Created in 2007, the mission of Ecotools was to preserve great priced brushes while preserving our Earth. Each brush is made from recycled bamboo, plastic and aluminum & packaged in 100% tree free paper. They're also cruelty-free & vegan!! Honestly , out of all my brushes, these are some of the softest ones I own and use!! They apply product & blend out beautifully! They recently relaunched their brushes that I haven't had the chance to try yet, but I plan on doing so soon!
*some favorites of mine are the Eye Enhancing Duo set, Blush brush & Lash and Brow Groomer

5) Wet n' Wild
Like Elf, Wet n Wild is another great OG drugstore brand! I've been using WnW since high school , starting with their nail polishes. Like many of the other drugstore brands, WnW has also been going under a revamp of sorts & I've discovered some wonderful gems along the way. But one thing that has surprised me the most would be their brushes---specifically the eye brushes! They have to be some of the softest brushes that I've ever used! And the eye brushes are only 99 cents! The face brushes are nice as well, though I wish they were more dense .
*Some of my favorites:  Small Concealer brush, Crease brush, Large Eyeshadow brush, Contour brush

6) Sonia Kashuk
This Target-exclusive brand is definitely one of the more eye appealing brands around! Each of the limited edition brush sets that are released have such a unique style & flair that I can truly respect. The quality, overall, is wonderful too! Personally , I've only purchased SK brushes in the sets when they're marked down super cheap!
*Some Favorites: Angled Brush (Bazaar collection), Contour brush (Facet-nation collection), Blending/crease brush (Facet-nation collection)

Well, that wraps it up for this post! I hope that you all found some great brush options within this post! I have some other brands I use, but either I haven't used them long enough or I do not own a ton from the particular brand. I wanted to really try to give you guys a good amount of options.  Let me know what some of your fave brushes/tools down below! Thanks for reading, and like always, Stay Beautiful

Review: Nubian Heritage African Black Soap

Hello, all! Happy new year to everyone!! I came on to give my review on the second out of the three soaps I received from Nubian Heritage---the African Black Soap. Price: $4.99 on NH website and at the Vitamin Shoppe (5 oz size) Specs: This soap claims to be  acne-fighting,  detoxifying and healing.  Also, it was designed for people with   combination, oily, sensitive, and problem skin  , however it has been said that people with ALL skin types can use this as well :) but, back to the specs. Like I mentioned on my review on the Shea Butter soap , on the container is a brief history about how Nubian Heritage got its start and the ayurvedic properties about the key ingredients--which for this product line is shea butter, oats, aloe, palm ash, plaintain peel, tamarind extract and vitamin E. Palm Ash, Tamarind & Plantain Peel--soothing properties ; minimizes the appearance of superficial skin imperfections Oats--brightens and evens skin tone ...

November Favorites

Hello, my loves! Welcome back & if you're new here, welcome! I can't believe that I'm here with my November beauty favorites!! Like the year is legit almost  done. 31 days left before 2018 makes its grand entry. I do have quite a bit this month, so if you're interested in learning all about my  favorites for November,  then just keep reading! SKIN/BODYCARE Eco Tools Konjac Cleansing Sponge : so great for helping spread my cleanser more evenly on my face versus using my hands or a rag! I've also noticed that it has helped my skin be a lot smoother, too! Shea Moisture Superfruit Complex Body Lotion : such a thick, hydrating lotion !! Only thing though is I would change the packaging--maybe opt for a jar instead of a bottle because it's thicker that a traditional lotion, but thinner than a body butter. Nip & Fab Kale Fix Protecting Shot : my skin has been more balanced lately since incorporating this oil!! Since it's colder, my skin tends t...

Makeup Colourpop Element of Surprise palette : this is probably one of the most unique palettes I own! When I first saw it, I had no interest in picking it up, but when I saw it in Ulta & swatched the shade Rayon, (metallic dark coral with blue-green duochrome) I fell in love!! I never thought I'd love this palette, but I'm pleasantly surprised! Colourpop x KathleenLights Dream St. Palette :  another great option for a few pops of color + neutral shades! Unlike the Element of Surprise, this one is more a warm toned color scheme .  Also, I...
