May Favorites

Hola, beautiful ones!! Welcome back & if you're new here  to my blog, welcome! Once again, we've reached the end on yet another month! May was pretty decent  to me, hopefully it was to you as well. I'm ready to see how June will go.  But , I have a nice amount of favorites  and wanted to share them with you guys! So, if you guys wanna know about my May favorites, then just keep on reading!

Skincare
  • Sephora Total Age Defy cream for Eye & Lips (retails $26.00)
I'm not crazy into anti aging skincare (mainly due to price), but since I've turned 25 a couple months ago, I've been trying to ease into it a little more. I've been using this eye/lip cream for the last several weeks at night time, and I'm absolutely in love with it!! Sometimes, I don't get a ton of sleep and my bags and dark circles are more than evident most days. But since using this, my dark circles have softened quite a bit and I look more awake! I definitely want to explore the Sephora collection for other skin care to try out, because so far, I'm quite impressed!

  • Garnier SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water--Waterproof (retails $3.99 for travel size, $7.99 for full size)

I'm so, so late with trying this out, but this blew my expectations out of the water. I've only tried the Simple Micellar water, which is fine for when I don't wear makeup , but not so much when I  wear a decent amount. But this one does such an amazing job removing all the dirt, oil & makeup on my face! And the oil layer doesn't leave my skin feeling super greasy and gross! It just does a better job, in my opinion , overall!

  • Nip & Fab Dragon's Blood Fix Plumping Serum (retails $14.99)

I was very impressed by the last Nip & Fab serum I tried, so I wanted to explore the brand for some more products to try. I stumbled upon this serum about mid April & was running out of my Neutrogena serum, so I decided to give this a whirl. I was pleasantly impressed by how hydrating this serum was!! My skin has felt a lot smoother and supple since using this in my skincare routine!! It's light, non greasy and can be used both day and night! The other thing I love is that it mixes well with all my moisturizers.

Makeup

  • Covergirl Vitalist Healthy Elixir Foundation--"Soft Sable" (retails $13.99)
Vitalist Elixir Foundation
This foundation is fairly new to the makeup world, so when I saw the fresh display at my local Walgreens, I was intrigued. The foundation claims to be "infused with vitamins E/B3/B5, as well as SPF 20 , to correct, protect & perfect the skin". Plus, the luxurious packaging doesn't hurt, either.  I ended up picking up Soft Sable , which was the darkest shade in the bunch. To be honest, I wasn't sure what to expect because I usually don't have success with CG foundations. The formula will be fine, just the color is off (Soft Sable is usually more of a grey/ashy undertone on me). But, to my surprise, it performed very well!! It's medium to full coverage, matches my skin tone perfectly & feels almost weightless on my skin! It can stand up to a long work day without difficulty, so I'm interested to see how well this will do in the hotter months! It does have fragrance , though, so just be mindful of that if you wanted to tried it out.
  • NYX Total Control Drop Foundation---"Mocha" (retails $13.99)

Honestly, when this foundation came out, I wasn't all that interested. I thought it would be way too watery and messy to deal with! But then, I kept hearing so many positive reviews about it, so I figured I might as well just try it out for myself. I picked this up around my birthday in March & tested it out since early April. Let me just say, I'm obsessed!! Like the CG foundation, this feels weightless also & the color matches me pretty well! I also like how you can adjust the coverage to your liking (from super light to full). I can also appreciate the nice shade selection, as well (there's 24 shades total). The only complaints that I have is the size to price ratio (I think for the price, the size should be a little bit bigger. You only get 0.43 oz) & the fact that many of the deeper are online exclusive, so the darker girls have to basically guess their color which is annoying and inconvenient.
  • Laura Mericer Loose Setting Powder---"Translucent" (retails $23.00 for travel size, $38.00 for full size)

This powder has got to be one of the most talked about products in the beauty community I've come across. People says it's the most amazing powder for setting concealer, controlling oil and providing a flawless finish with NO flashback. As stated in many previous posts, I'm not a big Sephora shopper because of distance mostly, but on a random trip there, I picked up the travel size of this powder to finally see what the hype was about. I'm obsessed with it; it does so well controlling my oil and minimizing creasing with my concealer! I'll most likely be picking up the full size in the Medium Deep shade next time I go to Sephora!
  • Black Opal Invisible Oil Blocking Powder [pressed version]  (retails $8.99)

Ya'll know how much I love the Covergirl Queen Collection matte pressed powder, but I wanted to also have an affordable translucent option. So, on a random Rite Aid trip, I stumbled upon this guy. Black Opal has revamped the packaging on all their products, so all their old packaging products was on clearance, so I swiped this up for a pretty good deal. This does such a great job of controlling my oil , especially in my T zone! I get super greasy mainly around my nose & my foundation breaks down there super quick. Since using this, my nose doesn't get as oily as quick!
  • Milani Make it Last Setting Spray (retails $9.99)

Milani has been releasing new products like raindrops on a stormy day. Literally, I see something new one day and by the next week, three more new products have since followed! ( Like, let us enjoy our new releases before you put out more lol.) Back to my original statement; I saw this new setting spray at Walgreens & at first, I passed on it because it was a little steep for the size/price ratio for my liking. But then, quite a few of my Insta beauty friends raved about it, as well as KathleenLights, so I finally broke down and after about 4 trips to Walgreens, it was back in stock and I got it. I am CRAZY about this!! It really does help my makeup form fading super fast and prep my skin for makeup application! It totally lives up to its name of making your makeup last!!
  • Milani Strobelight Instant Glow Powder---"Glowing"(retails $9.99)

I spoke about this highlighter already in my drugstore starter kit for face products, so I won't drone too much more about it. Simply put, I've been using this nonstop since I've purchased it!! It's the prettiest true gold highlighter at the drugstore yet! It just melts into my skin!
  • Black Radiance Artisian Color Baked Blush---"Rich Peach"(retails $9.99)
I also spoke about these blushes in that post , as well, so same thing: I'll be short and sweet. This is a vibrant hot pink blush with a peach undertone that honestly scared me a little, at first. But when I put it on, it gives the prettiest pink flush to the skin! Be warned , though: this is crazy pigmented! So, you'll want to use a light hand with it.

    • LA Colors Matte Eyeshadow---"Forbidden" (retails $0.50)

LA Colors is another brand that has really been stepping up their game lately & I've been pretty impressed with everything so far! But the thing that really caught my attention are these matte eye shadows! They're a bit powdery, but pigmented and easy to blend out! I own 5 of the 6 shades offered, but one shade in particular has stolen my heart: Forbidden. It's a gorgeous red/burgundy/brick with a brown undertone that I am just crazy for!! A lot of times, I haven't been feeling eye shadow as of lately, but when I'm in a rush, I usually throw a couple shadows in the crease and I'm done. I've been grabbing for this like crazy and I'm just blown away.
    • NYX HD Blush---"Hamptons" (retails $6.99)
Image result for nyx hd blush hamptons

I have also spoken about the NYX HD blushes in my drugstore starter kit post because they truly are amazing, but the shade Hamptons really surprised me. It's a cool toned bubblegum peachy pink that I had gone back and forth about decluttering or keeping.  So, I decided that I would either use it or lose it by putting it in my last beauty basket. Needless to say, I'm keeping it. It is such a soft , natural flush of pink that I love! A lot of times, I do bolder eye looks, so I want my blush to not be so loud and crazy , & this one is just right!
    Haircare

    • Aphogee Curlific Textured Hair Wash (reatils $7.99)
    Image result for aphogee curlific

Wearing my curls for the last 4 1/2 years has been both rewarding and frustrating at the same time.  My curls have no problem letting me know if she likes a product or not, mainly when it comes to cleansers. Some don't deep clean my scalp enough, while others do a little too much. But this one, to me, is one of those just right products! It has a decent lather & help my curls pop up a little more by removing the dulling build up!
    • Marc Anthony Kinky Girls w/ Wild Curls Sulfate Free Conditioner (retails $7.99)
Image result for marc anthony conditioner

Easily, this is one of the most hydrating conditioners I've used!  It's pretty thick, but helps me finger detangle these tight coils of mine a little quicker. Plus, it smells divine!
    • Curls Coconut Curlada Conditioner (retails $8.99)
Image result for curls coconut curlada

This actually surprised me quite a bit! I've tried a few other products from Curls, but was not really impressed by them. This, I would say, stood out among the rest! I'll be honest, it isn't the best conditioner I've used, but it is a good one. It didn't feel super nice going on, but rinsing out, my hair felt super soft after!!
    • Herbal Essences Naked Cleansing Conditioner (apparently no longer available??)
Image result for herbal essences naked cleansing conditioner

Though my hair does like shampoo, sometimes my hair feels a little drier & needs a more hydrating cleanser. Enter in this guy!! This was yet another Glamtwinz made me buy it product (be on the lookout for that post coming soon!), and I am crazy about this! Since this is a cleansing conditioner, it doesn't really lather up but it's great for those in between wash weeks when my hair isn't crazy dirty , but still needs to be cleaned. Plus, the peppermint and menthol smell helps my scalp feel invigorated and cleaned!
    Miscellaneous

    • Calypso Lemonade---some of the best lemonade I've had!!

    • Campbell's Chicken with Rice---I've been eating soup like crazy lately, & this has been my new go to!! It fills me up without feeling bloated.

    • "Take Your Time" by Pebbles: It's a shame that her career kinda folded the way it did, because she was bomb!! I found this song on a whim and fell in love!!!
    • Riverdale: go watch it. RIGHT. NOW. I'm obsessed! All the plot twists & intertwining storylines keep me on the edge of my seat ! Plus, seeing my middle school bae all grown up ain't half bad either =)

Well, we have finally made it to the end of this favorites post!! Hopefully you've found some good products within this list to try out for yourselves! Let me know some of your favorites or not so favorites from the month of May! Thanks for reading, and like always, Stay Beautiful

Review: Nubian Heritage African Black Soap

Hello, all! Happy new year to everyone!! I came on to give my review on the second out of the three soaps I received from Nubian Heritage---the African Black Soap. Price: $4.99 on NH website and at the Vitamin Shoppe (5 oz size) Specs: This soap claims to be  acne-fighting,  detoxifying and healing.  Also, it was designed for people with   combination, oily, sensitive, and problem skin  , however it has been said that people with ALL skin types can use this as well :) but, back to the specs. Like I mentioned on my review on the Shea Butter soap , on the container is a brief history about how Nubian Heritage got its start and the ayurvedic properties about the key ingredients--which for this product line is shea butter, oats, aloe, palm ash, plaintain peel, tamarind extract and vitamin E. Palm Ash, Tamarind & Plantain Peel--soothing properties ; minimizes the appearance of superficial skin imperfections Oats--brightens and evens skin tone ...

    November Favorites

Hello, my loves! Welcome back & if you're new here, welcome! I can't believe that I'm here with my November beauty favorites!! Like the year is legit almost  done. 31 days left before 2018 makes its grand entry. I do have quite a bit this month, so if you're interested in learning all about my  favorites for November,  then just keep reading! SKIN/BODYCARE Eco Tools Konjac Cleansing Sponge : so great for helping spread my cleanser more evenly on my face versus using my hands or a rag! I've also noticed that it has helped my skin be a lot smoother, too! Shea Moisture Superfruit Complex Body Lotion : such a thick, hydrating lotion !! Only thing though is I would change the packaging--maybe opt for a jar instead of a bottle because it's thicker that a traditional lotion, but thinner than a body butter. Nip & Fab Kale Fix Protecting Shot : my skin has been more balanced lately since incorporating this oil!! Since it's colder, my skin tends t...

Makeup Colourpop Element of Surprise palette : this is probably one of the most unique palettes I own! When I first saw it, I had no interest in picking it up, but when I saw it in Ulta & swatched the shade Rayon, (metallic dark coral with blue-green duochrome) I fell in love!! I never thought I'd love this palette, but I'm pleasantly surprised! Colourpop x KathleenLights Dream St. Palette :  another great option for a few pops of color + neutral shades! Unlike the Element of Surprise, this one is more a warm toned color scheme .  Also, I...
