Drugstore Makeup Starter Kit: Eye Products

Hello, beauties!! Welcome back & if you're brand new to my blog, welcome!! So, as you can see by the title, today is part 2 of the drugstore starter kit, which talks all about the eyes! I do have my post about my face product recommendations already up, so if you want to know about those, click here to check it out!  Alright, no more delays, let's get into this!

EYE PRIMERS
NYX HD Eyeshadow Base (retails $6.99)

This is one of the more convenient eye primers that I've used! The doefoot applicator makes it way less messy to apply, as well as travel with! But, all of my shadows last me all day!!

Milani Eyeshadow Primer (retails $7.99)

This one , to me, is the drugstore dupe for the original Primer Potion by Urban Decay! I've tried both & the results are crazy similar! It has that wet, sticky texture like the Primer Potion that helps the shadows last through any and everything!

Ulta Eye Primer--Nude Matte (retails $12.00)

This,in my opinion, is an affordable alternate to the Urban Decay Primer Potion in Eden. Unlike the previous two I've mentioned, this one delivers more of a matte finish when blended out ,which is perfect for my oily lids so my eyeshadow doesn't crease!!

Hard Candy Instant Eye Fix Under Eye  Treatment (retails $6.00)

This is a more recent favorite of mine, but what makes this cool is the metal applicator! It's not super large or super tiny, it's just the right size for the under eye! I use this both when I wear makeup and when I don't , and I've been noticing a difference in my under eye area lately! My dark circles are not as prominent , my concealer applies and blends out better , and  the metal applicator is just very cooling!!

SINGLE SHADOWS
Wet N Wild ColorIcon Singles (retails $0.99)

These have been around for years & for good reason!! They're pretty pigmented for the price & easy to work with!! My favorite from these would have to be between"Nutty"----a bronze gray taupe and "Panther"---matte black. They also have glitter shades , as well, if you were looking for some inexpensive glitters! I do wish that they had a nice matte transition shade for deeper skin tones, like a caramel or dark orange (Brulee works well for lighter skin tones).

L.A. Colors Baby Pop & Matte Singles (retails $0.50)

Image result for la colors matte eyeshadow

I just got done raving about the matte shadows in my May favorites, but seriously, these are amazing!! They're pigmented, inexpensive & easy to work with!! One thing I've noticed is that the drugstores do not offer a ton of variety for matte shadows, so I was honestly really shocked when I ended up loving these!! Seriously, ANYONE can buy these & you should!!

L'Oreal Infallible Single Shadows (retails $7.99)

These are like a pressed pigment that apply like butter!! They go on and blend out very smoothly on the skin! I also find that these are great multi purpose products---often, I will use the more wearable shades as both eyeshadows and highlighters if I'm in a pinch and don't feel like reaching for 50 different things!

Coastal Scents Hot Pots (retails $1.95)

I won't lie & say these are the best single pot shadows around, but for the price, you really cannot go wrong! These are a bit on the powdery side, but they blend out nicely! Plus, the color selection is wide--I believe there's over 300 colors to choose from , so literally everyone can find something that they will love, from matte to shimmer, warm to cool, bold to neutral. Plus, about twice a year, they run a half off sale on the hot pots, so definitely rack up on these during the sale!

Makeup Geek Shadows (retails $3.00-9.99)

You know how most stores typically have the name brand and the comparable generic store brand of a product?? Compared to the Hot Pots from Coastal Scents, these are like the name brand. It took me SO long to jump on this bandwagon, but I'm so glad I finally did!! The pigmentation is phenomenal overall & the blendability is A1 , as well!! Also, one of the accounts I follow on Instagram made a post a while back that Makeup Geek has a sale section where they sell "damaged" goods at a discounted price--meaning there may be slight dents or scratches on the pans of the shadows, but the actual product is not affected. So if you're itching to try some Makeup Geek, check the sale section out first for a little coin saving, but just check them out in general!

NYX Single Shadows (retails $4.49-5.99)

Of all the drugstore brands on the market, NYX offers the largest variety for their products, in my opinion. There's literally something that everyone can find and love! I've tried a few of their single shadows and love them!! They're pretty pigmented & don't have a ton of fallout!

Colourpop Super Shock Shadows (retails $5.00)

You guys know how much I love Colourpop, so I don't even really have to say that these are the bomb!! They're like a creamy, bouncy formula that tends to work best when applied with the fingers as opposed to a brush.  The color selection is phenomenal, as well! From warm to cool to shimmer to matte, Colourpop is just all the way on point!

PALETTES

Wet N Wild Studio Palettes (retails $5.99)

These palettes are fairly underrated, but so good!! Honestly, the drugstore doesn't have a huge amount of eyeshadows to choose from that are good quality. But these make the cut! The mattes blend out nicely & the shimmers are just buttery! Plus the brush that comes with the palette is nice too!

Wet N Wild Comfort Zone (retails $4.99)

I've read and watched many blogs and videos about drugstore starter kits & this palette is always included & for good reason!! It's the perfect mix of neutrals & bolder colors, but still is wearable for everyday! The only complaint I have is that they're all shimmer shades--I wish that there were a couple matte shades for transition colors.

BH Cosmetics (retails $4.99-22.50)

BH Cosmetics is fairly reasonable in price and variety! They offer some of the best palettes that I own in my collection! Also, they're a little more readily available since Ulta recently started carrying them in store!

Coastal Scents Revealed Palettes (retails $19.99)
I remember way back when these palettes were often compared to the Urban Decay Naked palettes. After seeing countless videos and Instagram posts about it, I knew I had i have these palettes for myself! I ordered both the Revealed and Revealed 2 on Amazon & love them both still!! They blend out nicely (though there is some kickup)  and deliver excellent pigmentation. They've since released 3 more palettes since, but I have so many others palettes that need love too. I may purchase the Revealed 3 and the Revealed Matte in the future.

Sonia Kashuk Eye on Neutral Matte (retails $19.99)

Easily one of the best affordable matte palettes on the market!! So many rave about it and I see why! the colors are very wearable, pigmented and blendable. Sometimes, I'll just wear this palette on its own and I love the looks I come up with. It is pricey for drugstore (well, Target since it's exclusive to there) , but still very much worth it.  The only thing I would personally change is having a warmer version of this palette available, with more orange and red based tones. Otherwise, it's amazing!

EYELINERS
Black Radiance Continuous Cream Liner (retails $4.99)

Since WNW & Black Radiance are sister companies, I had little doubt that this liner would be amazing also!! I first heard NaturalMe4c talk about this years ago, and it certainly did not disappoint!! I do wish that it was more easily accessible , but I do have another option that is basically a dupe that can be found in just about any drugstore.

Wet N Wild Mega Eyes Cream Liner (retails $3.99)

This liner is very nostalgic to me!! I first started using this back in high school & it's still one my favorites years later!! It truly does line and define the eye with ease! To me, this and the Black Radiance Cream Liner are virtually the same, so if you cannot find the Black Radiance one, this will be your best friend!

Wet N Wild H20 Proof Liquid Liner (retails $ 2.99)

I hear literally NO ONE talks about this liner, and it's AMAZING. It's easy for me to work with & it really does last all day!!

Rimmel Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal (retails $3.99)

This eyeliner has made quite a few appearances on the blog, but for great reason! It's one of the most long lasting eyeliners I've tried to date! Plus it's glides on nicely without the pulling and tugging on my eye.

Milani Liquifeye Eye Liner (retails $3.99)

I  recently mentioned this in my June favorites, and I still stand by it! This is the one of the creamiest eyeliner pencils I've tried!

L'Oreal Extra Intense Liquid Liner Pencil  (retails $7.99)

This is another creamy pencil eyeliner I think is absolutely amazing!! I tried this out on a whim & fell in love!! As it says in the name, it's an extra intense black!  Only issue I do have is that it does run and fade on me, but my eyes do tend to water and I have seasonal allergies, so I only really use this for tightlining, like the Milani one.

Elf Liquid Liner (retails $2.00)

A lot of people swear in every direction possible  by the NYC Liquid liner as being the cheapest, best liquid liner on the market, but the ELF one is so much better!! For starters, unlike the NYC one, this one doesn't burn my eyes! Also, the brush handle is a lot shorter, so it's easier for me to work with!! Over the years that I've worn makeup, I've learned not to always turn my nose up at the cheaper alternatives, because you never know what hidden gems you can find!

Maybelline Line Stiletto Liquid Liner (retails $5.99)

This liquid liner has sentimental value because this taught me finally how to do winged liner (along with countless Youtube vidoes lol). I'll be honest, I don't use this one as much these days, but I'll always go back to it because it's easy to work with and decently pigmented!

MASCARAS
L'Oreal Telescopic--"Carbon Black" (retails $8.99)

I've tried every formula of the Telescopic mascara, but the Carbon Black is by far the best!! For me, the formula is what sealed the deal: it's not too wet like the original Telescopic, but not super dry like the Telescopic Shocking Extensions. It honestly does elongate the lashes super well!!

Essence Lash Princess (retails $4.99)

This gives me more dainty baby doll lashes, which I'm all about !! I tend to use this more for an everyday type of wear because the volume is not so crazy but not super subtle either!

Wet N Wild Max Volume Plus (retails $4.99)

This mascara gives me a nice natural looking volume to my lashes! Often, I would wear this without makeup because it gives me just enough volume to make my lashes look like they've got a little something going on without doing too much!

NYX The Skinny Mascara (retails $6.99)

This is the best mascara for the bottom lashes!! It grabs them nicely and really accentuates the eye!! Also, I enjoy using this for adding some extra volume at the base of my top lashes & it does amazing at that!!

Maybelline Lash Sensational (retails $7.49)
Image result for maybelline lash sensational
This one does an amazing job of fanning out my natural lashes & making them look super full and juicy!!  Maybelline is probably one of my top drugstore brands for mascara! I've yet to find one that disappoints me.

Covergirl The Super Sizer (retails $6.99)

Image result for covergirl super sizer
I also mentioned this in my June favorites, so I will not say much more about it, except that it is AMAZEBALLS.

Rimmel Lash Accelerator (retails $6.49)
Image result for rimmel lash accelerator mascara

For all my itty bitty lash committee folks, you need this!! This elongates your lashes so stinking much, even a little more so than the Telescopic mascara that I absolutely love!

BROWS
Jordana FabuBrow (retails $2.99)

Image result for jordana fabubrow

You should've known that this was coming!! You guys are probably sick of me talking about this pencil, but seriously, it's so good and so cheap!  I just cannot get enough of this pencil!!

L'Oreal Brow Stylist Definer (retails $7.97)
Image result for l'oreal brow stylist definer

Like the Fabubrow, I've talked this to death as well. But seriously, it's amazing!! This, to me , is just like the Brow Wiz from Anastasia Beverly Hills!! The only thing I would change is the shade range (3 shades is just not enough).

Revlon Colorstay Brow Pencil (retails $8.97)

Image result for revlon colorstay brow pencil

This is for sure a hidden gem at the drugstore! I knew these were out for quite some time, but had my favorites already, so I didn't give this much thought. But I saw this on clearance at Walgreens and figured what the hey?? This pleasantly surprised me! It's creamier that I was expected & does a great job of enhancing my natural brows! Also, I like that they seem to cater a little more to different hair colors!

Milani Easybrow Eyebrow pencil (retails $4.99)

You know how I love me some Milani, as well, so it should be no surprise that their brow pencil is phenomenal as well! It's on the thicker side, but still very easy totally and blend out!! Like many other brow products, I wish they'd cater more to multiple hair colors (only 3 shades available).

Elf EyeBrow Kit (retails $3.00)

This is also very nostalgic to me. I've used this kit on and off for a few years & it still delivers amazing brows for me!! They look fuller yet still natural, as well. I more so prefer the brow wax over the powder (I'm just not a brow powder type of girl) But for $3, it works way better than what it's worth. Once again---EXPAND THE SHADE RANGE!!! Even though I don't have auburn or reddish hair myself, I feel the frustration for those that do because there's not many products they can try because of their hair color.

NYX EyeBrow Gel (retails $6.99)

This is one interesting product. It's pigmented, but it's not. What I mean is that when you swatch it, it's crazy bold!! But you can easily blend it out into almost nothing. But, regardless, I love this!! Whenever I use it, I just use this one product & nothing else!! It lasts all day long, doesn't budge/smudge/flake, and dries really quick!! It makes my brows look nice and thick!!

NYX MicroBrow Pencil (retails $9.99)

It took me the longest time to try this out, but I'm so glad I did!! It's very skinny and precise, easy to blend and lasts all day!! A lot of people compare this to the ABH Brow Wiz as well, and I have to say, I agree with those opinions!! It's a great drugstore dupe for that pencil  for half the price! Plus, they have a decent shade range for all hair colors!

Wet N Wild Megaclear Mascara (retails $1.99)

I've recently stared trying out different brow gels , but this one will always be my number one favorite!! It holds my brows in place all day, doesn't cake or flake up, and costs me a whole $1.99!! I use this when I fill in my brows, as well as when I don't & it does amazing both ways!!

Milani Brow Shaping Gel (retails $4.49)

This would be my second favorite brow gel!! It costs a little more than the WNW and you get a little less product, but it works just as great on my brows!  I do like the smaller brush head on this one since it allows me to be more precise!

WHEW!!! We have finally made it to the end! Hopefully, you still  aren't too overwhelmed with all the suggestions, but I do hope that you find some great suggestions to try out for yourselves!!  Once again, if you haven't checked out my  suggestions about face products, click right here to do so & stay tuned for  the finale which is all about lip products!! Review: Nubian Heritage African Black Soap

Hello, all! Happy new year to everyone!! I came on to give my review on the second out of the three soaps I received from Nubian Heritage---the African Black Soap. Price: $4.99 on NH website and at the Vitamin Shoppe (5 oz size) Specs: This soap claims to be  acne-fighting,  detoxifying and healing.  Also, it was designed for people with   combination, oily, sensitive, and problem skin  , however it has been said that people with ALL skin types can use this as well :) but, back to the specs. Like I mentioned on my review on the Shea Butter soap , on the container is a brief history about how Nubian Heritage got its start and the ayurvedic properties about the key ingredients--which for this product line is shea butter, oats, aloe, palm ash, plaintain peel, tamarind extract and vitamin E. Palm Ash, Tamarind & Plantain Peel--soothing properties ; minimizes the appearance of superficial skin imperfections Oats--brightens and evens skin tone ...

Hello, my loves! Welcome back & if you're new here, welcome! I can't believe that I'm here with my November beauty favorites!! Like the year is legit almost  done. 31 days left before 2018 makes its grand entry. I do have quite a bit this month, so if you're interested in learning all about my  favorites for November,  then just keep reading! SKIN/BODYCARE Eco Tools Konjac Cleansing Sponge : so great for helping spread my cleanser more evenly on my face versus using my hands or a rag! I've also noticed that it has helped my skin be a lot smoother, too! Shea Moisture Superfruit Complex Body Lotion : such a thick, hydrating lotion !! Only thing though is I would change the packaging--maybe opt for a jar instead of a bottle because it's thicker that a traditional lotion, but thinner than a body butter. Nip & Fab Kale Fix Protecting Shot : my skin has been more balanced lately since incorporating this oil!! Since it's colder, my skin tends t...

When I first saw it, I had no interest in picking it up, but when I saw it in Ulta & swatched the shade Rayon, (metallic dark coral with blue-green duochrome) I fell in love!! I never thought I'd love this palette, but I'm pleasantly surprised! Colourpop x KathleenLights Dream St. Palette :  another great option for a few pops of color + neutral shades! Unlike the Element of Surprise, this one is more a warm toned color scheme .  Also, I...
