June Favorites

Hola, beautiful ones!! Welcome back & if you're new here, welcome! Once again, we've reached the end on yet another month! I cannot believe that the year is officially halfway over!! Goodness, time is just flying by! But, I have a nice size amount of items to discuss, so if you're interested in learning all about my  favorites for June, then just keep reading!

HAIR
  • Dark & Lovely AU Naturale 10-in-1 Styles Gelee (retails $8.49)

This has been my go to gel for my hairstyles for the past couple months actually!! The consistency is more oil based, in my opinion, so I have to use a little more with my styles. But, it clumps my curls together nicely without making them feel crunchy!
  • Shea Moisture African Black Soap Dandruff Control Conditioner (retails $12.99)

Formerly known as the Balancing Conditioner, I use this as a pre shampoo detangler and it's still as amazing as I can remember!! The slip is jut right--not too thick but not too watery, which is perfect for getting through my tight kinks and coils a heck of a lot quicker!! Plus, I love the earthy banana smell!
  • Creme of Nature Straight from Eden Natural Oil Infused Leave in Conditioner (retails $9.95)

This helps to hydrate and soften my curls so well!! I often have been using this to refresh my hair the next day while I get dressed or do my makeup , & my hair has been so freaking soft!! I'm surprised how much I love this so much because spray leave in conditioners usually do not work for me , but this one has wowed me!!
  • RED by Kiss Super Jumbo Satin Day & Night Cap (retails $4.99)
As a curly girl, protecting your hair is SUPER important!! Otherwise , your hairstyle will not last as long and eventually, your hair will become drier. So, I was on the hunt for a new satin bonnet because my other one I've been wearing became very stretched out and old, so I had to toss it. I was at a local beauty supply store when I stumbled across this one and was all over it!! First off, it's ginormous!! People with super short or super long hair would be crazy about this! Second, my hair is still fully protected! Since I now sleep on satin pillow cases, my hair does not get as dried out. But obviously since they have to be washed, having this on hand is awesome! The dual satin layers help to trap in more moisture!

SKINCARE
  • Tone Petal Soft Beautifying Body Wash (retails $2.92)

If you've been following me for a while, you know how crazy I have become about the Tone body washes & this one is no exception!! It has a slightly warm , sweet rose scent that I just love & the formula just makes my skin feel super soft!!
  • Milani Moisture Lock Infused Lip Treatment--"Revitalizing Grapefruit" (retails $7.99)
Image result for milani moisture lock oil infused lip treatment grapefruit

Everyone now has been releasing these lip oil treatments, but I believe Milani was the first ones to do it. I picked up 3 of these to try out, and this one would have to be my favorite one!! This one claims to prep and prime the lips for any lip products (lip liners, lipstick, lipgloss, etc) , and I noticed that this has been making a difference in how my lip products go on!
Even if  I choose not to wear a lippie that day, my lips still feel very soft and hydrated the next day!

MAKEUP
  • Kleancolor bronzer--"Luna" (retails $2.99)

I've only gotten into wearing bronzer within the last couple years ,but it definitely does bring for dimension to my face that foundation tends to take away. Since I've been doing beauty baskets more often in an effort to downsize my collection , I try to make sure I'm switching out my products more frequently because I'm the type to stay using the same things if I like them. I pulled this out of my bronzer stash , and OMG I am kicking myself for not using this sooner! This is actually a shimmer bronzer, but it doesn't apply super glittery or chunky to the skin. It gives me such a natural warmth that I am obsessed with! This is definitely a WOC friendly bronzer  & I'm all for it! They also have a matte version, as well, if you're not into shimmer bronzers.
  • City Color Desert Treasures bronzer---"Heatwave" (retails $3.99)
This one is a bit more subtle in warmth & is more of a satin finish, but still gives off a beautiful natural finish like the Kleancolor bronzer! Often this month, I've been mixing the two together & I am living for it, ya'll!! It's the perfect natural warm glow!
  • NYX Sweet Cheeks blush palette (retails $19.99)

I have SO......MANY......blushes. It's unreal how many I own. Now, I love me some NYX blushes like the next, but I had passed on this so many times because I just knew I didn't need it . But every time I went to Target (I believe this is a Target exclusive), this kept staring me down. And I had done pretty well at resisting, but Youtube, of course, reeled me in and this just magically fell into my Target basket. But I am so glad that I bought this!! It provides 8 beautiful shades that multiple skin tones could pull off! They're nice and pigmented, but easy to blend out or build up to one's liking!! I also think this would be perfect for a beginner because of the color variety, so you don't have to buy a bunch of single blushes .

  • Hard Candy Instant Eye Fix Under Eye treatment (retails $6.00)

Yet another "Youtube Made Me Buy It" product that I absolutely love!! Like I stated in a previous post, I tend to not get a ton of sleep for many a reason, so my dark circles and undereyes need all the help they can get. I believe I was watching Bianca Andress and she had mentioned this in one of her drugstore hauls, so I added this to my never ending wishlist of things to try out. After quite some time & debating , I finally picked it up & am obsessed with it!! My undereye bags have gone down quite a bit & my dark circles have actually lightened over time. Also, this does a good job of priming my lids for eyeshadow!
  • Covergirl The Super Sizer mascara (retails $6.99)

You know how you try something , have one opinion, then try it again & your opinion totally changes??? That would apply to this mascara 100%. When I first tried this, I HATED IT. It did absolutely nothing for my lashes. But I had heard yet another Youtuber by the name of Gabe Flowers rave about this mascara & the Intensify Me liquid liner in a couple of her favorites videos. So, when I saw both products in a set together, I decided to try it out one more time. Maybe I had a bad tube previously, because this mascara has been my jam all month!! It make my lashes look super voluminous & flirty, doesn't smudge or flake whatsoever, and lasts ALL day!
  • RK by Kiss Pure Mineral concealer---"Caramel" (retails $2.99)

I had always seen this concealer in my local beauty supply store & wanted to try it for the longest time. I finally picked it up several months ago & just tried it out this month (#makeupjunkieprobs). Where have I been?? It is very lightweight but gives AMAZING coverage! Whenever I haven't felt like wearing foundation, I've been reaching for this concealer a ton!! Plus there's a huge selection of colors to choose from!
  • Zuri Flawless Cover foundation--"Nuit" (retails $7.99)

I had never heard of this brand honestly, but on a random Marshall's run, I saw this foundation & anything that is geared more toward women of color, I am all over it! Though the color is a bit on the red side, I love how comfortable it felt on my skin! It felt so weightless and light, which is great for summer especially! With the heat getting higher, sometimes my makeup feels so heavy and gross! Not this, though!
  • Revlon Colorstay Brow pencil--"225 Soft Black" (retails $8.29)

This pleasantly surprised me! I found this on clearance at Walgreen's & wasn't certain how I'd feel about it. I typically go for dark brown in my brow products because it fills them in without looking too harsh. But, this color is perfect for when I want a little more depth to my brows, but not so much that you can tell they're filled in! My natural brows are fairly decent on their own, but sometimes I want a little more oomph & I've been grabbing this constantly!
  • NYX No Filter Finishing powder---"Deep Golden" (retails $13.99)

A lot of people compared this to the Mineralized Skin Finishes from MAC , which I personally haven't tried, but I was growing tired of using the same few powders over and over & wanted something new. On a trip to my second home aka Ulta,  I had seen that NYX had quite a few new products on display, one being this powder. I had swatched the tester and loved how silky it felt, so I picked it up to try. Honestly, I began testing this powder out in April to truly figure out if  I liked it. As far as coverage goes, this is not my favorite. But it gives a nice , healthy sheen to the skin that I cannot get enough of!
  • Rimmel Scandaleyes Kohl ---"Black" (retails $3.99)

Spoiler alert: this is a Glamtwinz made be buy it product, so I'll be real quick with my opnion: I LOVEEEEEEEEE IT!!
  • Milani Liquid Eye eye liner --"Black"  (retails $3.99)

The gorgeous Juicyyyyjas mentioned this in her drugstore makeup starter kit & I knew I had to try it out for myself! I'm all about an inexpensive eyeliner that works better than its price, & this falls in that category. It's probably the creamiest black liner that I've tried! I use this one more for tracking my lashline and tightlining & it works like a dream!
  • Colourpop Ultra Matte lip--"Zipper" (retails $6.00)

You guys know how much I love me some Colourpop, but this lippie actually sat around in my collection for the longest!! I want to say this shade was part of the original launch of the Ultra Matte Lips, which had a lot of mixed reviews. But one day, I decided to slap this sucker on & I got quite a few compliments on my lip color that day!! Something about purple lips just draws in the compliments for me!

Review: Nubian Heritage African Black Soap

Hello, all! Happy new year to everyone!! I came on to give my review on the second out of the three soaps I received from Nubian Heritage---the African Black Soap. Price: $4.99 on NH website and at the Vitamin Shoppe (5 oz size) Specs: This soap claims to be  acne-fighting,  detoxifying and healing.  Also, it was designed for people with   combination, oily, sensitive, and problem skin  , however it has been said that people with ALL skin types can use this as well :) but, back to the specs. Like I mentioned on my review on the Shea Butter soap , on the container is a brief history about how Nubian Heritage got its start and the ayurvedic properties about the key ingredients--which for this product line is shea butter, oats, aloe, palm ash, plaintain peel, tamarind extract and vitamin E. Palm Ash, Tamarind & Plantain Peel--soothing properties ; minimizes the appearance of superficial skin imperfections Oats--brightens and evens skin tone ...

November Favorites

Hello, my loves! Welcome back & if you're new here, welcome! I can't believe that I'm here with my November beauty favorites!! Like the year is legit almost  done. 31 days left before 2018 makes its grand entry. I do have quite a bit this month, so if you're interested in learning all about my  favorites for November,  then just keep reading! SKIN/BODYCARE Eco Tools Konjac Cleansing Sponge : so great for helping spread my cleanser more evenly on my face versus using my hands or a rag! I've also noticed that it has helped my skin be a lot smoother, too! Shea Moisture Superfruit Complex Body Lotion : such a thick, hydrating lotion !! Only thing though is I would change the packaging--maybe opt for a jar instead of a bottle because it's thicker that a traditional lotion, but thinner than a body butter. Nip & Fab Kale Fix Protecting Shot : my skin has been more balanced lately since incorporating this oil!! Since it's colder, my skin tends t...

Makeup Colourpop Element of Surprise palette : this is probably one of the most unique palettes I own! When I first saw it, I had no interest in picking it up, but when I saw it in Ulta & swatched the shade Rayon, (metallic dark coral with blue-green duochrome) I fell in love!! I never thought I'd love this palette, but I'm pleasantly surprised! Colourpop x KathleenLights Dream St. Palette :  another great option for a few pops of color + neutral shades! Unlike the Element of Surprise, this one is more a warm toned color scheme .  Also, I...
