Hello, beauties!!
Welcome back to my humble blog! Today, I'm actually coming with a review and comparison on two masks I own: the Origins Clear Improvement Active Charcoal Mask and the Garnier SkinActive Clean+ Pore Purifying 2-in-1 Clay Cleanser/Mask. Inspiried by one of my favorite Youtubers, The Glamour Index. I decided to dig into my own stash to see if the drugstore option of a product was a dupe, dud or better than its high end counterpart. I've been testing these out for a little while, and I think I have a pretty solid idea on how these work for my combination skin and which I would prefer. So, if you're interested in hearing my thoughts, keep on reading!!

The Similarities
- Charcoal is a prominent ingredient in both! Aside from use on the grill or absorbing poison, it helps to detoxify the pores , causing the skin to feel cleaned and smoother over time.
- Each have some sort of clay also in the mask (White China Clay--Origins, Kaolin Clay--Garnier)
- The packaging---both are in a squeeze tube with a closeable cap, which makes it less messy to get out and apply.
(As you can see, the Garnier one has been WELL loved lol. )
The Differences
- The price: Garnier runs for about $6-9, Origins is $17-24 (depending on the size)
- The size: Garnier offers 5 fluid ounces (equaling $1.20-1.80 per fluid ounce), while Origins comes in either 1.7 or 3.4 fluid ounces ($7.05-10 per fluid ounce)
- The color: Origins seems to apply and dry a tad bit darker than the Garnier mask.
- The uses: Since it is stated in the title, Garnier can be use as both a mask as well as a cleanser, whereas Origins is strictly a mask
- The sensation: They both have a tingling sensation when applied and while drying, however Origins has a bit of a deeper clean in my opinion.
- Availability: Garnier can be picked up at virtually any drugstore--Walmart, Kmart, RiteAid, Walgreens, CVS, Target, etc.; whereas Origins is found in more higher end stores--Sephora, Elder-Beerman, Macy's.
(Garnier on the left, Origins on the right. I was a little bot TOO excited lol)
What's the verdict??
In conclusion , I would have to say that they are dupes--even though Origins does clean my skin better and leave it smoother. I believe the Garnier does offer a pretty good alternative for those on a tight budget or can't get to the nearest Macy's or Sephora. But, overall I think they are both worth checking out if you have an issue with excess oil, clogged or enlarged pores or a stubborn breakout that just won't go away without a fight. If you have more dry skin, I would suggest using these masks more as a spot treatment, as they can tend to make the face feel tight and drier since it is absorbing all the oil and dirt out of your skin.
Well, hopefully this was helpful! Thanks so much for reading, and like always, Stay Beautiful!
