Flawless Feature: ShannonCBeauty

Hello, beautiful people!! I hope everyone is doing well :) so if you follow my primary blog, Bare Soul, you're very much aware of the running series that I have going on there : the Spotlight Series. Well, I decided to keep it going for my beauty blog as well, but instead it will be called Flawless Feature. The gyst of how FF will work is like SS--I choose someone with an exceptional movement (in this case, it will be beauty oriented) and show off  just how flawless they really are :)

Without further delay, please in welcoming my debut guest, Shannon Colmey!!
Shannon is a 17 year old makeup lover that hails from Ireland! She began her Instagram and Youtube channel as a way to share  both her love of makeup with others, as well as tips and tricks with everyone from doing her own and her friends' makeup! She's a big believer in the saying "If you really want something that you're passionate about, don't let anything stop you!"
But let me shut my mouth and let her talk for a bit:
1) When did you start becoming interested in makeup? Why?
I  first became interested in makeup when I was about 12/13 years old, but I was used a bit of concealer to cover up my spots and blemishes. I got really interested in doing my makeup when I was about 15/16 years old. I would practice new techniques and use different shades and products everyday after school to find what I liked best! Now, I wear makeup everyday, it's still mainly to cover my spots, but also it gives me a small boost of confidence, because I'm happy with my appearance each day and I love trying new combinations of colours!

2) What is your favorite brand of makeup?
I've got a favourite makeup brand for each different product that I use, eg. my favourite brand for foundation is No.7; my fav brand for concealer is Collection. But overall, I've got more makeup items from No.7 than any other brand! Their foundation is long lasting, gives a smooth finish and gives full coverage. I've got 6 of their lipglosses, and 4 of their lipsticks which I absolutely love!! It can be expensive, even though it's a drug store brand, but the quality of the products is worth it!
3) What is the most expensive makeup item (s) you own?
The most expensive would have to be either my Mac products or the Benefit Porefessional! I bought the Mac Pro Long Wear Concealer but unfortunately it's 3 shades too dark for my skin tone, so it's never been used! I also have Mac face and eye brushes, which I love and use every single day, they are worth the price!
4) What is your go-to makeup look?
It would definitely have to be a full coverage flawless foundation, a light blush on my cheeks, subtle contour on my forehead and nose, and brown smokey eye and a pink nude lip! I wouldn't wear a smokey eye to school, but after school and weekends, this is the look I wear!
 5) What is one makeup item you own that you cannot live without?
I 100% cannot live with out concealer!! I use Collection's 16 Hour Wear Lasting Perfection Concealer. I use this on any redness or blemishes I have, as well as concealing my under eye area and highlighting! I've currently got 3 bottles in my makeup drawer, I make sure I'm always stocked up, I never leave the house without it!
6) What is one makeup item you own that did not meet your standards?
I bought the Fushcia Mineral Powder Foundation a few months ago after it was recommended to me by a friend, but unfortunately it didn't meet my expectations! It says that it is a full coverage powder foundation that is build-able with each layer you apply. However I found that it didn't give any coverage, the powder itself wasn't a matte powder, so it added shine to my entire face, as well as highlighting my blemishes instead of covering them! It was also very heavy and thick on my skin, I'm glad that I tried it, but definitely won't be repurchasing!
7) Words of advice for anyone that wanted to get into makeup wearing or artistry??
For anyone who is new to makeup, I would recommend that you practice applying your makeup in your free time. Work out what foundations/powders suit you best, and which tool works best to apply it with, eg. a stippling brush, a sponge or a normal foundation brush, kabuki brush etc. Make sure that the shade matches your skin tone as close as possible for your foundation to look natural, and as if you're not wearing any. Work your eyeshadows with your eye colour.  For example, I've got green eyes, I would wear browns, purples, black, plum. For blue eyes, I suggest golds, peach, apricot, deep brown. For brown eyes, black, navy, deep plum or blue.

To anyone who wants a career in makeup, I highly recommend starting an Instagram account dedicated to makeup, whether it be looks you've created or posting makeup products. It's a way to become accustomed to the industry, meet other makeup artists, as well as get your name out there. I recently started a Youtube Channel where I've began posting makeup tutorials. This is another way to both develop and enhance your skills, as well as sharing your tips and tricks to other makeup lovers, and again it's a way to be recognized for your art!

Review: Nubian Heritage African Black Soap

Hello, all! Happy new year to everyone!! I came on to give my review on the second out of the three soaps I received from Nubian Heritage---the African Black Soap. Price: $4.99 on NH website and at the Vitamin Shoppe (5 oz size) Specs: This soap claims to be  acne-fighting,  detoxifying and healing.  Also, it was designed for people with   combination, oily, sensitive, and problem skin  , however it has been said that people with ALL skin types can use this as well :) but, back to the specs. Like I mentioned on my review on the Shea Butter soap , on the container is a brief history about how Nubian Heritage got its start and the ayurvedic properties about the key ingredients--which for this product line is shea butter, oats, aloe, palm ash, plaintain peel, tamarind extract and vitamin E. Palm Ash, Tamarind & Plantain Peel--soothing properties ; minimizes the appearance of superficial skin imperfections Oats--brightens and evens skin tone ...

November Favorites

Hello, my loves! Welcome back & if you're new here, welcome! I can't believe that I'm here with my November beauty favorites!! Like the year is legit almost  done. 31 days left before 2018 makes its grand entry. I do have quite a bit this month, so if you're interested in learning all about my  favorites for November,  then just keep reading! SKIN/BODYCARE Eco Tools Konjac Cleansing Sponge : so great for helping spread my cleanser more evenly on my face versus using my hands or a rag! I've also noticed that it has helped my skin be a lot smoother, too! Shea Moisture Superfruit Complex Body Lotion : such a thick, hydrating lotion !! Only thing though is I would change the packaging--maybe opt for a jar instead of a bottle because it's thicker that a traditional lotion, but thinner than a body butter. Nip & Fab Kale Fix Protecting Shot : my skin has been more balanced lately since incorporating this oil!! Since it's colder, my skin tends t...

Hola, beautiful ones!! Welcome back & if you're new here, welcome! Once again, we've reached the end on yet another month, which means monthly favorites! Guys, we're officially 2/3 through 2018!! Crazy that just in 4 short months, it will be 2019!! Slow down, time!! Nonetheless, I have some really good stuff that I've been loving, so if you guys wanna know about my favorites for August, then just keep on  reading! Makeup Colourpop Element of Surprise palette : this is probably one of the most unique palettes I own! When I first saw it, I had no interest in picking it up, but when I saw it in Ulta & swatched the shade Rayon, (metallic dark coral with blue-green duochrome) I fell in love!! I never thought I'd love this palette, but I'm pleasantly surprised! Colourpop x KathleenLights Dream St. Palette :  another great option for a few pops of color + neutral shades! Unlike the Element of Surprise, this one is more a warm toned color scheme .  Also, I...
